Hi! I'm Claire Shinner and this website is a representation of everything that I am proud of as a photographer and photojournalist. I'm a graduate of the class of 2021 at the University of Montana in Missoula and the former multimedia editor at the Montana Kaimin, the independent alt-weekly newspaper at the University of Montana School of Journalism. I've settled (for now) in Bothell, WA, just across Lake Washington from Seattle having recently moved back to figure out my next steps after school.

As my career continues, I want to work on stories and projects that shine light on the interesting stories everyone around us has to tell, whether we know it or not. Some of my favorite projects I've worked on (see my projects page), have shown just how much we can learn about the people in our communities if we just ask a few questions. Taking photos that show the behind the scenes of life have piqued my curiosity for years and I hope to continue doing that.

The world is an interesting place to be a journalist, let alone an up-and-coming journalist. But it's also exciting, as we explore multimedia journalism and the new places it can take us. I am excited that I get to learn how to be a leader for others and build my portfolio during this crazy time, and I hope that shows here.
